Who we are

Lorquen is a small self-drive rental company in Salford with one Moskvich 5. We deliver and collect free inside the M60, so there is nowhere for you to travel to and nothing to queue for.

Why the site is mostly answers

Because the phone is mostly questions. Running an uncommon car means a large part of every day is spent explaining what it is, what it is based on, whether it is automatic and whether it has anything to do with the Soviet saloons somebody's grandfather owned.

After a year of the same conversations we collected them into one page of answers, including the two where the honest response is that nobody knows yet. It saves everybody time and it means the answer you get from us is the same answer every time.

What one car buys you

Speed. There is no fleet management system to consult and no branch to ring. When you ask whether the car is free on a set of dates, the person you are speaking to already knows, and you get a yes or a no rather than a promise to come back to you.

The trade is that when it is booked, it is genuinely booked. We cannot find you another one, and we will say so rather than take a deposit and hope.

How the car is kept

Serviced at the manufacturer's interval by one independent garage in Salford that has had it from the start, with the transmission fluid done on schedule. Consumables go at the point of wear. Valeted before every handover. If you want the record before booking, ask.
